Cycle Zero: Free Construction Materials App Saving Money and Reducing Waste

A good plan for DIY enthusiasts! It is possible to find free materials on an application that references the surpluses of construction sites. Cycle Zero was launched by three young Parisians. A real bargain in these times of rising prices. It also reduces waste.

Amazed by the volume of waste on construction sites, three young Parisians decided to create the application Cycle Zero. It makes freely available to individuals, surpluses or construction materials in good condition but destined for the dumpster.

Pedro Amorim, a customer, reserved a PVC window from a construction site on the application. In used condition, it fulfills its functions but had to be thrown away. He estimates that he saved 500 euros “even more for a window of this size (…) there it just costs me the trip”. Of the free materials for individualsthat you just have to pick up.

Cycle Zero is remunerated by taking a commission from contractors. For the latter, the solution remains economical because renting a dumpster is very expensive and using the app reduces the number of dumpsters. “At the beginning, We We were very skeptical on the subject because integrating this intervention into our planning is something that could slow us down in the execution of our mission” admits Jean-Baptiste Kengoum, group leader at “Darras and Jouanin“.

“We are going to discuss reusable materials, reusable on the site. The quantities, the functionality, the viability of the material is very very important so we will make sure of all that before putting it on the application” assures Karima Lebsir, architect and co-founder of the Cycle Zero application.

Window, radiator, insulating materials, in two years of existence, this young shoot has saved the equivalent of 39 tons of garbage. This is all waste that will not have to be reprocessed and will still have a second life.
