The German Fortuna Düsseldorf fans hung an anti-homophobia banner during the training match against the Puskás Academy, reports Rattlesnake.
On Monday, the Puskás Academy played their third summer training match in Freistadt, Upper Austria, their opponent was Fortuna Düsseldorf of the German second division. The Fortuna ultras already indicated before the match that they are not happy that their team is playing a practice match against the Hungarian Prime Minister’s former team.
“It’s no secret that this club does not even approximate the values represented by Fortuna Düsseldorf. The club founded by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán symbolizes an autocratic, anti-democratic and intolerant worldview. This club is nothing more than a product of corruption,” wrote the Düsseldorf ultras in an open letterwhich they also sent to the presidency of their club.
Despite their objections, the match was played, the Puskás Academy according to his report hundreds of German fans came from Düsseldorf to the Holzhaider Stadium in Freistadt. Photos from the match show that one of their banners was written: “Fortuna fans against homophobia!”
