In the past few days, the southern United States has encountered high temperature weather. As of July 16 local time, 14 states across the United States have issued high temperature warnings. On the same day, the National Weather Service warned that a “widespread heat wave” will occur in the next few days from the west to the south of the United States, and the high temperature is expected to continue until the end of this week.
According to US media reports, on the 16th local time, high temperatures continued in Nevada, Arizona, and California in the southwestern United States. Among them, the highest temperature in Phoenix, the capital of Arizona, reached 46 degrees Celsius that day, and has exceeded 43.3 degrees Celsius, or 110 degrees Fahrenheit, for 17 consecutive days. It is expected to break the local record of exceeding 110 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 consecutive days since 1974.
Under the continuous hot and dry conditions, wildfires have erupted in many places in Riverside County, California, since the 14th local time. As of the morning of the 16th local time, the burned area has reached 3075.6 hectares, and only 10% of them are currently under control. Residents were evacuated and several roads were closed.
