The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for Papua Province said that China was one of the six destination countries export Papua’s largest. Its value is estimated to reach US$ 137.85 million or IDR 2.06 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 15,000) in June 2023.
BPS Papua BPS Middle Statistics Functional Akhmad Fauzi, in Jayapura, Monday, said the exported commodities were in the form of metal ore, slag and ash (HS26).
“While exports to neighboring Papua New Guinea in June 2023 were valued at US$ 0.12 million,” he said, quoted from Antara, Monday (17/7/2023).
According to Akhmad, exports to the six main countries in June 2023 were recorded at US$ 384.18 million, a decrease of 4.08 percent compared to May 2023 which amounted to US$ 400.52 million.
“Cumulatively, Papua’s exports to the six main countries for the January-June 2023 period were valued at US$ 2,078.54 million, a decrease of 4.26 percent when compared to exports to the six main countries for January-June 2022 valued at US$ 2,171.04 million,” he said Again.
He explained that Papua’s exports to other countries have also decreased from US$ 976.16 million in January-June 2022 to US$ 651.28 million in January-June 2023.
“However, exports to the six main countries will still contribute 76.14 percent to Papua’s total exports in January-June 2023,” he said again.
He added that Papua’s exports in June 2023 were recorded at US$ 399.43 million, down 35.62 percent compared to the previous month which was valued at US$ 620.42 million.
Judging from its type, Papua’s exports this month were oil and gas exports worth US$ 487 million and non-oil and gas exports this month worth US$ 399.43 million.
“This month’s largest export came from Amamapare Port, Mimika Regency, which was valued at US$ 396.90 million or 99.67 percent of Papua’s total exports,” he concluded.
