Leaked Intel Arrow Lake-S CPU Performance Predictions compared to Core i9-13900K

July 17, 2023CPU

Intel Arrow Lake (Arrow Lake-S) desktop CPU internals leaked out.German media igor’sLab reported.

I got an internal document about Arrow Lake-S. The document graphs Arrow Lake-S performance predictions compared to Core i9-13900K. Please note that the following materials are not publicly available and are only projections.

Core i9-13900K vs. Arrow Lake-S

Arrow Lake-S specs are compared at 8P-Core 16E-Core PL1=PL2=250W. The first one graphs performance predictions from CrossMark, SYSmark 25, WebXPRT 4, Speedometer 2.1, and Geekbench. According to the graph, it seems that a 7-20% performance improvement is expected compared to the Core i9-13900K.

The second piece is the result of the SPEC CPU 2017 benchmark (SPECrate 2017). This is expected to improve performance by 3 to 21%.

Intel also has slides for the iGPU. Please see here.

iGPU: Core i9-13900K vs. Arrow Lake-S

Compared to the Core i9-13900K 32EU iGPU, Arrow Lake-S is expected to have more than double the performance. It’s unclear what the number of EUs or the clock will be.

Arrow Lake-S will feature a new CPU socket, the LGA1851. The physical size is almost the same as the LGA1700, and it is compatible with existing CPU coolers, but requires a new mounting kit.

Depending on the application, it seems that the Arrow Lake desktop CPU is expected to improve performance by 3-21% over the Core i9-13900K when compared with the same number of cores and almost the same power consumption. Of course, this is just an early performance prediction, so what will actually happen is still unknown.

The Arrow Lake Desktop CPUs are said to be next to the Raptor Lake Refresh and are expected to launch in 2024 according to Intel’s official roadmap.
