Sit-in in the Senate: The CEO condemns intimidation and diversionary maneuvers

Libreville, Saturday July 15, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The secretary general of the Gabonese Democratic Party, Steeve Nzegho Dieko, invites the opposition to set an example in the context of general elections in prospect.

In a statement made yesterday Friday, the secretary general of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG) castigated the movement of humor organized by certain leaders of the opposition in the Senate. Steeve Nzegho Dieko denounces what he calls maneuvers aimed at intimidating and creating diversion. “The Gabonese Democratic Party strongly condemns these intimidation and diversionary maneuvers which aim to create a climate of psychosis within the population in this pre-election period”, he said.

Indeed, Alexandre Barro Chambrier, Paulette Missambo, Raymond Ndong Sima, Mike Joctane and Bertrand Zibi, presidential candidates on August 26, suspect the Upper House of Parliament of wanting to revise the Electoral Code on the sly. The latter believe that this “revision during the election period is unacceptable” and plan to seize the Constitutional Court for this purpose.

For the secretary general of the PDG, these opponents “must submit to a requirement of exemplarity in order to constantly avoid lowering the public debate, but on the contrary, rise to the height of the challenges required by the development of Gabon. Anxious to preserve the climate of peace and cordial understanding that has always existed in our country, we must, beyond our political divisions, show vigilance and discernment to magnify the unity and national cohesion so dear to each Gabonese and in particular to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba”, said Steve Nzegho Dieko.
