A new heat wave, the third of the summer, will hit Spain again starting this Monday and will trigger thermometers above 40 degrees in much of the country. It will also bring tropical and sweltering nights with minimum that in many places will not drop below 25 degrees.

Galicia, however, will once again get rid of this torrid scenario, as on the two previous occasions. No alert is planned anywhere in the community, which does not mean that the temperatures will not be high, since they will experience an increase with respect to the weekend. Thus, for this Monday in Ourense, and according to data from Meteogalicia, the thermometer is expected to reach 32 degrees, something that on the other hand is quite common at this time, while in Pontevedra it will be at 29; in Vigo, in the 27; in Santiago, in 26; in Ferrol, in 25, and in Lugo and A Coruña, in 24.

Nothing abnormal. The temperatures will also be relieved by the effect of the north windanother usual in the Galician summer, especially on the north coast.

The situation is the opposite in the rest of Spain, especially in the southern, central and eastern areas, where a mass of warm air from Africa will have its effect, which will also have repercussions in other countries bordering the Mediterranean, with very high temperatures. and above the usual values of the heatwave, already high in themselves.

This situation vto extend weather warnings to twelve autonomous communities and thirty provinces and it’s going to color those alerts red—extreme risk—for the next few days. This Monday Andalusia will reach this maximum alert level and on Tuesday it will foreseeably be activated in the communities of Catalonia, Aragon and the Balearic Islands, with temperatures in all cases that will widely exceed 40 degrees.

The Aemet, which has issued a special notice on the occasion of this new heat wave, has explained that starting today a mass of very warm, dry and stable air will enter, with characteristics similar to the heat episode that occurred at the beginning from last week.

That mass of warm air from Africa, together with the high insolation characteristic of this time of year, will be what causes the rise in temperatures. The Aemet data advances that this Monday 40 degrees will be reached or exceeded in Badajoz (40), Ciudad Real (43), Córdoba (44), Guadalajara (40), Jaén (44), Madrid (41), Seville ( 41) and Toledo (42).

Córdoba and Jaén will be at extreme risk (red) with these conditions, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), which will force the paralysis of outdoor activities during the central hours of the day.

In addition to the red warning in both Andalusian provinces, high temperatures will put Granada, Seville, Mallorca (Balearic Islands), Toledo, Ciudad Real, Badajoz, Madrid, Cuenca and Albacete at significant risk (orange). The last two will also be on yellow alert for storms.

Almería, Cádiz, Huelva, Málaga, Huesca, Teruel, Zaragoza, Ávila, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid, Zamora, Guadalajara, Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, Cáceres, Murcia, Navarra, La Rioja, and Valencia will also be at risk for heat, with yellow warning.
