Draft Proposals for Personal Information Protection Law Published in Riyadh: Public Input Sought

Riyadh: Draft proposals related to the Personal Information Protection Law have been published. The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority has sought public comment on the draft law.

Proposals are mainly to be submitted on executive regulation related to personal data and regulation of transfer of personal information across the country’s geographical boundaries. Time has been given to submit proposals before the end of July.

The Act will enable individuals to protect and exercise their rights relating to information. And it also helps with self-awareness and adherence to regulations and procedures, said those in the field.

More than ten thousand expatriates were arrested within a week

Riyadh: About 12,000 law breakers were caught in raids conducted by the security departments in various provinces of Saudi Arabia. 11,915 people were arrested from 6th to 12th of this month. Among them, 6,359 are Iqama law violators, 3,753 are trespassers and 1,803 are labor law violators.

During this period, 675 people who tried to enter the country through the borders, 197 people who tried to leave the country illegally through the borders, and five people who provided work, shelter and travel facilities to the Iqama and labor law violators and infiltrators were arrested. Legal action is being taken against 35,700 people who are currently in deportation centers in various provinces. Among them, 6,080 are women and 29,620 are men. 26,161 are working with foreign diplomatic missions to arrange temporary travel documents for 26,161 people ahead of repatriation.
