Books – Sayed Metwally
It’s so common to experience headaches or fatigue in your daily life that it’s so easily affected by how much sleep you get, the weather, your stress levels and other circumstances, it can be easy to dismiss it as not a problem.
However, symptoms of headache and fatigue could be a sign of an unknown but “debilitating” condition, according to the British newspaper Express.
The condition is myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) is a chronic, multi-system neurological disease that primarily targets the nervous system and immune system, and can cause a range of ‘fluctuating’ symptoms from muscle pain to memory problems.
According to Action for ME, this disease affects more than 17 million people globally, however, symptoms will vary by person.
The health organization explains: “Afffected people experience debilitating pain, fatigue and a range of other symptoms associated with post-exercise distress and the inability of the body and brain to recover after expending small amounts of energy, and not everyone will experience the same symptoms.”
Affected people can vary greatly in their experience of the disease, as well as how long their symptoms last, some make good progress and may recover, while others may remain ill for a number of years and may not get better.
Some people also find that they never fully return to the way they felt before they became ill, but they recover enough to live a happy, fulfilling life. This is similar to many other chronic illnesses.”
