Mirpur: India women lost by 40 runs in the first match of the ODI cricket series against Bangladesh. Batting first, Bangladesh were all out for 152 runs in 43 overs. India’s target was revised to 154 runs in 44 overs as per the Duckworth-Lewis rule. However, India were all out for 113 runs in 35.5 overs.
Batting first, Bangladesh were crushed by pace bowling all-rounder Amanjot Kaur’s four-wicket performance. Amanjot made two maidens in nine overs and conceded 32 runs. Leg-spinner Daivika Vaidya took two wickets and off-spinner Deepti Sharma took one wicket.
However, chasing a small target, India faltered early on. Star opener Smriti Manthana, who is out of form, was dismissed for 11 runs and Priya Punia, who opened the batting in place of Shafali Verma, was dismissed for 10 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (5) also failed to settle. Deepti Sharma was the top scorer with 20 runs.
Marufa Akhtar who took four wickets for 29 runs was the player of the match. Rabia Khan also took three wickets.
