Vladimir Putin has warned that Russia reserves the right to use cluster munitions if Ukraine uses them.
“In Russia, there is a sufficient stock of various types of cluster ammunition, of various types. So far we have not done this, we have not used it and we have not had such a need, despite the well-known shortage in a certain period of ammunition, but we have not done it. He he said this in response to a question from journalist Pavel Zarubin about the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on “Russia-1” television, TASS reported.
The fragment was published on Zarubin’s Telegram channel.
The president noted that when using cluster munitions against Russia, it reserves “the right to mirror actions.”
The head of state is confident that the supply of cluster munitions to Ukraine and their use should be considered a crime.
“As for cluster munitions, the US administration itself gave an assessment of these munitions through the mouths of its officials some time ago, when the use of cluster munitions was called a crime by the US administration itself. I think that’s how we should treat it,” Putin said .
“They are not doing this for a good life, but because they generally have a shortage of ammunition,” Putin said. He recalled that “the Ukrainian army spends up to 5,000-6,000, say, 155-caliber projectiles per day in hostilities, while the US produces 15,000 per month.” “They are no longer enough and Europe is not enough. But they found nothing better than to propose the use of cluster munitions,” Putin said.
