Walking can provide many of the same benefits as running, such as increasing stamina, boosting the immune system, losing weight, and extending life.

So, which one loses weight faster?

Reported Healthline, the answer is to run. Running burns almost twice as many calories as walking.

For example, a person weighing 70 kilograms running at 8 km/hour will burn 606 calories.

Meanwhile, if the person walks fast for the same time at a speed of 5 km/hour, they only burn 314 calories.

If you’re new to exercise or can’t run, walking can still help you lose weight and get in good shape.

When walking briskly at high speed (5 km/h), your heart rate will increase and you can burn more calories.

Some people do power walking or walking very fast (5-8 km/hour). This is called being able to burn calories equivalent to running.

Another viable option is walking in a weighted vest. To stay safe, wear a vest that weighs no more than 5-10 percent of your body weight.
