UNAIDS Roadmap: Ending AIDS by 2030 with Global Action and Investments

The UN agency UNAIDS has confirmed that it is still possible to end AIDS by 2030.

It calls for global action and encourages leaders to take decisive action.

UNAIDS has drawn up a roadmap with investments, prevention and treatment strategies and addressing inequalities. Significant progress has been made in countries that have invested heavily in HIV prevention and treatment.

Several countries have already achieved important goals such as knowing HIV status, treatment and viral suppression. However, challenges remain, such as funding and access to treatment. Key populations continue to be disproportionately affected by the HIV pandemic.

UNAIDS emphasizes that political will and investment in prevention and treatment, health systems, non-discriminatory legislation, gender equality and community networks are needed to end AIDS. The end of AIDS is seen as an opportunity for leaders to be remembered as those who stopped the world’s deadliest pandemic.
