Harry Kane’s Decision: Bayern Munich Confident of Landing Tottenham Striker

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has reportedly made it clear that he wants to join Bayern Munich, according to the German club’s honorary president Uli Hoeness. Bayern had a bid of €70 million plus add-ons rejected by Spurs last month, but they remain determined to secure the services of the England captain.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel has already held discussions with Kane about a potential move, and Hoeness expressed confidence that they would be able to sign Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer if the player “kept his word”. Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is said to be in regular contact with Kane.

Kane still has one year remaining on his contract with Spurs, and the club is hoping to convince him to extend his stay. The striker reported for the first day of pre-season training with Tottenham on Wednesday and subsequently flew with the rest of the squad to Perth, Australia on Friday.

The relationship between the two clubs is reportedly good, with Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen meeting Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for breakfast in London on Thursday. However, no fresh offer was made at the meeting, and no price was quoted following Bayern’s initial bid.

Kane’s contract negotiations with Tottenham were put on hold last season as he focused on helping the club secure a place in the UEFA Champions League. However, Spurs ultimately finished in eighth place and missed out on European football altogether.

Despite his lack of silverware at both domestic and international level, Kane has achieved significant milestones in his career. In February, he broke Jimmy Greaves’ all-time goalscoring record for Tottenham when he scored his 267th goal for the club. The following month, he became England’s record goalscorer.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will be willing to part ways with their star striker, but keeping Kane would be a risk worth taking for chairman Daniel Levy and the club.
