DEFEATING THE COUP AND ACHIEVING A MASSIVE PARTICIPATION IN THE NEXT ELECTION ROUND ARE THE TWO FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVES OF THE PEOPLE
Beyond what was foreseen by many political analysts, the gang of criminals that governs the country today has jumped the fence that anyone else would not have dared to do, the result of the contradictions that afflict global capitalism and, therefore, one of its peripheral appendages such as Guatemala. However, desperation has led them to use the Public Ministry, which they have co-opted, to direct their repression and persecution against an entity which they also have co-opted, such as the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, but whose members did not dare before the population to further delay the officialization of the electoral results of the first round. Of course, with the well-known knowledge that they, their magistrates, knew in advance of this terrible trick, which they did not want to join in public, but pretended not to know anything, despite the speed with which news is transmitted today on the networks. social, gave the press conference where they made the results official, while the embarrassing coup d’état was cooking under the table, without doubting that those same TSE magistrates could be in cahoots with the coup plotters.
After the action to withdraw the legal status of the Seed Movement, in a lightning action today July 13, 2023, the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Impunity -FECI- in the hands of the coup leaders, has become an instrument of these and with the speed that only when it is convenient for the corrupt, they raided the TSE facilities to capture the boxes containing the documentation of said political group in order to clarify what they are accused of: falsification of signatures. Now, here a serious suspicion arises, that in that search boxes of files belonging to the Seed Movement have been captured and which can be violated and false evidence is implanted. This, in the sad experience of how this has been done continuously in this country by the authorities that should be guarantors of the chain of custody, in this case and of other guarantees against citizens that are not important in this analysis. , there have been serious violations of the rights of citizens by blaming innocent people.
Well, the coup is in the offing. What will we do as a people? We say this because the institutions co-opted by the corrupt simply do not represent us, therefore, they are not at our service, but on the contrary, now they are clearly against ourselves. It is as if we had an invading foreign State violating our constitutional guarantees and our culture and imposing theirs.
We don’t know for sure, but the people will rise up, especially those in rural communities, and the struggle and repression will begin.
We augur for Guatemala, because we cannot predict how long or what its outcome, a period of darkness that can only be elucidated by the organized people and their struggle in the countryside and cities, whose trigger has been the mockery of the sovereign decision of the people expressed in the polls on June 25, but whose roots go back to almost 70 years of abuse, arbitrariness, crimes, dispossession, looting and arrogance on the part of an oligarchic class that does not want to change a farmer model to a minimal modern state, even within the same liberal bourgeois democracy.
For this reason, we assure that the analysis of many experts has failed to take into account the class struggle that is expressed in many variants, from a State co-opted by the oligarchy after retaking control of the administrative structure of the country through the coup counterrevolutionary against Colonel Jacobo Árbenz Guzmán in 1954 to a state totally corrupted by the mafias that rule today.
The democratic era inaugurated by this same oligarchy in 1986, has suffered an accelerated wear and tear, causing fatigue and weariness caused by the permanent string of genocidal governments of the military era and corrupt civilian governments, which have not carried out more than some pyrrhic reforms for the population. that they have remained pale attempts at development, which is why they have had no visible effect on the already worn-out promise of sustainable progress for the great impoverished masses of workers, peasants, workers in the state bureaucracy and services, and the rest of the society. unemployed population that survives thanks to the informality and the own effort of each one of these segments of the proletarian class and not by the handouts of the myopic oligarchy who, stuck in a vision of the Spanish viceroyalty, believes that it can keep the population in conditions of XVII century. The only modernity has been in infrastructure and some policies derived from the tendency and natural impulse of the capitalism of the metropolis in the big cities and some municipal capitals. For the rest, total abandonment.
Therefore, allowing a small group of corrupt people who are supported by an oligarchic faction, the most backward and recalcitrant, to impose their decision on something as sacred as the citizen vote, a conquest achieved through the struggles of workers and the population in general. which has even cost life, blood, exile and humiliation for many of its promoters, is an affront that should not be allowed under any circumstances or pretext. A turning point on which the population cannot give up, demonstrating that when it participates en masse, at least beyond 60%, the oligarchy trembles. Therefore, that fight must be won and get that group thrown out of power.
We know perfectly well that the government that is established after that popular victory could not be a government capable of facilitating all the needs and aspirations of the impoverished majority, but only by ensuring that corruption is eradicated in a large proportion and that its policies economic and social are aimed at benefiting the most vulnerable population, it would already be an extremely significant victory. This would allow a climate of peace and security where the initiative of the workers can expand more freely and propose and defend much more profound reforms, starting with a National Constituent Assembly that is capable of drafting a new social contract that gives more participation to the masses of the population both urban and rural.
However, all of this will not be possible if we do not first defeat the current coup in order to ensure that the elections on August 20 with the contenders that the Supreme Electoral Tribunal has already made official: the National Unity of Hope and the Seed Movement. Then, summon the population to vote en masse for the candidate Bernardo Arévalo, who is the one that provides the most guarantees of carrying out a frontal fight against corruption and the implementation of public policies that benefit the majority of the most impoverished population, as stipulated in his government program and in his campaign promises.
For this, it is necessary to participate in street actions of which the different organizations have already made calls, in peace and protecting the physical integrity of the demonstrators to avoid providing pretexts to the repressive forces of the oligarchic State, which would detract from popular participation and It would give the corrupt government the perfect justification to impose states of exception, which would make it even more difficult to achieve the two great objectives set out in previous paragraphs.
