Unraveling the Criminal Paths: Investigating Unsolved Cases of French Killers and Rapists.

CRIMINAL ROUTES (8/8): The Nanterre center specializing in cold cases, studies the journey of eight French killers and rapists. The goal: to find out if they are involved in cases that have not been elucidated.

There are not only unresolved cases on the judges’ desk at the Nanterre centre. To help solve these cold cases, the investigators of this judicial center have decided to take an interest in the criminal paths of eight French killers and rapists. This Saturday, RMC Crime returns to that of Pascal Jardin.

If at first glance, it is difficult to count this man among French serial killers, because he was only convicted of one murder, his criminal itinerary could be much more extensive. In any case, this is what Corinne Herrmann, the lawyer for the mother of her victim who works with the Nanterre pole, suspects. “Given the profile of this man, his behavior, it is not excluded that he committed other acts in the places where he was able to live”, she confided to our colleagues from France Blue Gascony.

His DNA betrayed him

It was on September 9, 2014 that the name of Pascal Jardin appeared for the first time in the office of the Landes investigators. This 56-year-old man at the time of the events had already been convicted of attempted sexual assault on a young woman, in Chalon, in 2004. But this time, it is for much more serious acts that he is stopped.

He is accused of having killed Christelle Blétry, a 20-year-old young woman, with 123 stab wounds in 1996 in Saône-et-Loire. For years, the murder of the one who was part of the cases nicknamed “the missing from the A6” remained unsolved.

18 years after the fact, it is thanks to his DNA fingerprint that the investigators were able to identify him. Found during the sexual assault he had committed ten years earlier, the trace could be compared with that found on the young woman. Faced with the atrocity of the murder he committed and the way in which he raged, the judicial center of Nanterre wonders if he would not have made other victims.

“A Serial Killer Profile”

Pascal Jardin was appraised by several psychiatrists, during the investigation, who diagnosed him with psychopathy “suggesting a profile of a serial killer”, confides the lawyer to our colleagues. The investigators therefore want to resume his journey to see if he would not be involved in other cases that have remained unsolved, and in particular in the Landes where he lived.

The families of victims also want his profile to be re-examined, because he could have moved elsewhere in France and abroad to lose the investigators and escape justice.

The mother of Christelle Blétry, the known victim of Pascal Jardin, also insisted with the pole that the file of the disappearance of Virginie Bluzet be compared with the criminal route of the murderer of her daughter because she had noted similarities. “The Bluzet file had been kept open because the tracks of Fourniret and Pascal Jardin had not been explored. That’s why we are fighting with the association, so that these two tracks are studied”, a- she confided to RMC Crime.
