The Dangers of MLM Supplements: A Lesson from Salma Kyana’s Vitiligo Experience

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Doctor and content creator Salma Kyana is a woman with vitiligo. In his personal TikTok video @salmakyn, he explained that he first experienced a condition that caused white spots to form on the skin.

“Because many people ask, I will tell you why I can get vitiligo. So in the past, around 2019 I took a supplement, the supplement was sold by MLM (multi-level marketing),” said Salma in the video, quoted on Saturday (15/7/2023).

In other words, the supplements he took were not obtained from competent doctors, nurses, pharmacists or health workers.

“I didn’t get it from a doctor, pharmacist, or nurse, but from an ordinary person who is an MLM sales agent, a friend of mine.”

According to Salma, the contents of the supplement are herbs or plant extracts.

“So… herbs don’t guarantee safety, guys, I really didn’t mention the brand because I’m too lazy to straighten them long.”

“But I want to share a lesson to learn, okay, take any medication, supplements, vitamins, ask the medical staff first, ask the doctor or at least the pharmacist. Don’t want you to drink anything from people who offer them are also not medical personnel, they don’t know the science, drug interactions.”

If in the end there are side effects like what Salma Kyana experienced, then those parties don’t want to be held responsible.
