AI and Cinema Workshop: Creating Short Films with Generative Artificial Intelligence

Can you imagine recording without a camera? Animate without drawing? Create your own short films easily?
The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and Prodigioso Volcán (Spain) invite you to participate in the workshop
that they will dictate at the AI ​​and Cinema Microfestival within the framework of the 27 PUCP Lima Film Festival.
It will be a face-to-face workshop of just four hours, where you can create by working in teams
multidisciplinary, a micro short film for which they will use the latest advances in generative artificial intelligence available to small creators. A jury will award the best work. In addition, there will be a previous master class where the tools to be used in the workshop will be announced and a subsequent talk, where the award will be given, to discuss the integration of generative AI in cultural production.

All activities will take place at NOS PUCP. Due to limited capacity, the profiles that participate in the workshop will be selected from among all the applicants.

1. OBJECTIVES

Master class: Present the capabilities of generative AI in the format of the text, of the
image and video, as well as the fundamentals of this technology and how they are changing the
digital universe. Microcinema with AI Workshop: Create an experience parallel to the PUCP Lima Film Festival 2023 in
the public of the Festival and the university community can get closer to the intelligence
artificial from an inspiring point of view, with the aim of providing a differentiating experience
and of creation. Talk: Propose a debate on the role of AI technologies in the world of production
for scriptwriters, editors, artists, writers or journalists, what can we use these for?
tools, what are their benefits, their ethical approaches and their risks. to what we owe
be attentive.

2. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Be a member of the PUCP community (students, teachers or administrators) who have an interest
for cinema and audiovisual creation, and who want to learn more about artificial intelligence
generative. Have minimal digital skills (being able to use a computer at user level). It will be essential to attend the master class. Have notion or elementary knowledge of the stages of audiovisual creation.

The submission of applications will be until Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
After the deadline date and time for submission of forms, applications will not be accepted.

3. SELECTION
The forms that comply with the provisions will be reviewed by Prodigious Volcano
(Spain). Twenty-five (25) applicants will be selected, who will be divided into five (5) groups
of work. For the formation of each team, the following will be valued:

The different profiles of applicants to create multidisciplinary teams Interest in generative artificial intelligence tools Interest in the different stages of audiovisual creation
Selected applicants will be notified on Friday, August 4 via email and
announced on Monday, August 7, 2023, through the official media of the Pontifical
Catholic University of Peru.

4. THE JURY
The jury will be made up of three (3) specialists linked to the film sector and
audiovisual. Once the viewing is over, the deliberation and decision of the jury will take place
through which the micro short film that will receive the prize indicated in numeral 5 will be chosen.
Announcement of the winning micro short film and the awarding of the prize will be given during the talk.

5. THE PRIZE
The jury will select one of the micro short films and each of the team members
Winner will receive the following prize:

One (1) simple free pass valid from September 2023 to July 2024 for all
cinema functions of the CCPUCP’s own programming, except for the Lima Film Festival
PUCP and programming of the PUCP Film Library.

5. CERTIFICATION
A DIGITAL CERTIFICATION PROOF will be issued, which will be notified via email
within a period of thirty (30) calendar days, counted from the day after completion of the
activity.
