This man just can’t get enough! And so Novak Djokovic is about his eighth Wimbledon title on Sunday – and the 24th Grand Slam title ever.

Opponent Jannik Sinner couldn’t really intervene: 6: 3, 6: 4, 7: 6 (4) it was for the Djoker after almost three hours of play.

Sinner got off to a better start and had two breakballs in the first game of the match, but Djokovic parried. And he used the first chance to make it 2-0. In the second round, Djokovic got the decisive break to make it 2-1 and then fended off Sinner’s break chance and won the game, despite a warning for exceeding the time limit. In the third set, Sinner parried a 0:40 at 1: 1, which left Djokovic cold.

His test: At 4:5 and 15:40, when someone called in on the first serve. Djokovic applauded scornfully, Sinner missed both break chances – especially the second hectically with a promising forehand. Sinner was also 3-1 ahead in the tie-break, a double fault brought Djokovic back. Shortly afterwards he won.

Djokovic: “36 is the new 26”

“Three very tight sets, the result doesn’t show how tight it really was,” said Djokovic. “The third set could have gone to him too. He had break chances, a couple of second serves from me.”

When asked about the young generation, he joked: “It’s nice to be part of this young generation.”

That he’s playing his best tennis? “I’d like to think so,” he said. “36 is the new 26.” Tennis gave him so much, “I’m always grateful for that. I want to give back to the sport as much as I can.”

Djokovic can now draw level with Federer

Djokovic is playing for two records on Sunday: He can expand his Grand Slam list in men’s singles (he is currently with 23 majors ahead of Rafael Nadal with 22). And draw level with Margaret Court (24 majors). In addition, triumphing in Wimbledon for the eighth time and catching up with Roger Federer.

The opponent is still being determined: in the second semi-final between world number one Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev (here in the live ticker).
