After a long wait, Hyundai Motor Co officially launched Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. This ‘savage’ vehicle is the manufacturer’s first electric car in the Hyundai N line. So, what are the advantages offered by the fast version of the IONIQ 5?
Jaehoon Chang as President and CEO of the Hyundai Motor Company said, the Hyundai N product line is known for its high technology and performance. He hopes that the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N will offer a different sensation that is ‘more racing’ to its drivers.
“The combination of technological innovation and motorsport experience in Hyundai N pushes performance boundaries. The result can be seen in the IONIQ 5 N, a high-performance electric car breakthrough. The development of the IONIQ 5 N is the key to strengthening the competitiveness of all Hyundai models going forward. This is the goal of Hyundai. N,” Chang said at the product launch, quoted on Friday (14/7).

The same thing was conveyed by Till Wartenberg as VIP and Head N Brand of the Hyundai Motor Company. According to him, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N will be very different from the regular model.
“IONIQ 5 N was developed to bring a new, more exciting driving experience with the latest technology. Starting with the IONIQ 5 N, Hyundai N will continue to present the exciting driving experience typical of Hyundai N, whether in petrol, electric or hydrogen models,” said Wartenberg.
It is known that the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N still uses the regular variant’s e-GMP or Electric Global Module Platform framework. However, in appearance, the vehicle has received improvements to strengthen the impression of motorsport.
For example, at the front there is an N Mask graphic fascia with a functional exhaust as well as windows and air valves for extra cooling. Lip spoiler is installed at the bottom of the bumper which emphasizes performance. Then the exclusive accent under the black bumper cover that gives the impression of a racing car.
At the rear of the car, there is an exclusive Hyundai N wing type spoiler with an orange diffuser and air outlet. That helps control airflow for the best aerodynamic performance that emphasizes the aggressive high-performance capabilities of the IONIQ 5 N.

Then in the interior, the IONIQ 5 N brings the appearance of the Hyundai N with typical Hyundai N elements, including the steering wheel, seats, door scuff panels and metal pedals which are optimized for driving on a race track.
High Performance
IONIQ 5 N gets technical improvements compared to the regular variant. The vehicle is equipped with an electric motor capable of generating power up to 641 hp and a maximum speed of 260 km/hour.
The battery has a capacity of 84 kWh which only takes 18 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent. Unfortunately, it is not stated exactly what is the maximum distance a vehicle can travel in one charge.

IONIQ 5 N is equipped with booster technology and N Launch Control to increase vehicle acceleration. In fact, thanks to this technology the car can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
Despite being tight, the manufacturer is setting new thermal management standards for the use of the IONIQ 5 N on the racing circuit. Thus, the car does not heat up easily or lose power due to overheating.
Not only that, another advantage of the IONIQ 5 N lies in its sound. Different from other electric cars, this vehicle has a typical racing car roar. It’s just that the voice is not original, but assisted by special technology.

The manufacturer embedded the IONIQ 5 N with N e-shift and N Active Sound+. The N e-shift feature provides a sensation of power and gearshift, while the N Active Sound+ produces a sound that is said to be similar to the sound of a gasoline engine / ICE (Internal Combustion Engine).
These two features are presented to answer driver complaints that electric cars are too quiet, unlike sports cars with conventional engines / ICE.
