Freiburg (ots)

Submission to the press release of the police headquarters in Konstanz:

The escape of the motorcyclists ended near Löffingen (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald)

Original press release from the police headquarters in Constance:

Two motorcyclists were in a chase with the police on Thursday evening around 7.30 p.m. in the Black Forest-Baar and neighboring district of Freiburg. The two men, aged 20 and 22, were noticed by a road user in the Döggingen area both because of their rapid driving style and because of the covered number plates on their motorcycles. The man informed the police, who met the two speeders on the federal highway 27 between Donaueschingen and Bad Dürrheim. They did not follow the police’s request to stop, but fled at high speed in the direction of Bad Dürrheim. There they turned at a traffic light that was set to “red” and raced back on the B 27 in the direction of Donaueschingen. With the support of a police helicopter, the officers took up the pursuit, which then continued via the federal highway 31 and side streets in the Unadingen, Reiselfingen and Löffingen areas. In order to evade police control, the two speeders disregarded a number of traffic rules before the 20-year-old’s journey ended at a level crossing near Löffingen. He fell while braking his Yamaha and crashed into a meadow, where he was not injured. The older man fled to a piece of forest in the “Unterbränd” area. He left his Suzuki there and escaped on foot. However, the police were able to locate him quickly. As it turned out, both young men did not have a driver’s license, a motorcycle was also not registered and had a license plate mounted. The police are investigating both drivers, among other things, because of a prohibited street race and road traffic endangerment. Witnesses and people who have noticed the two speeders or who have hindered or harmed them with their reckless driving are asked to contact the traffic police on telephone number 0741 34879-0.
