Eating foods rich in carotenoids can smooth out wrinkles, boost collagen production, and protect skin at a cellular level. Igor Strokov, a nutritionist, told MedikForum about this.
Brightly colored fruits and vegetables give dishes more than just a savory taste, he says. “It’s something I eat a lot, and it’s claimed to reduce wrinkles, thicken collagen, boost my mood, and protect me from a variety of illnesses,” Strokov said.
The expert claims that, according to some studies, collagen levels and wrinkles can be significantly improved with diet.
“Several large-scale studies have shown that those who eat more vegetables have much less wrinkles and firmer skin. One study found that eating lots of colorful vegetables – about 250 grams per day – is the key to looking younger,” he said.
Vegetables containing carotenoids are responsible for youthful skin. These plant compounds give carrots, mangoes, and tomatoes their bright red and orange color.
These substances are chemical relatives of retinol, which is considered an anti-aging compound when it comes to wrinkles. These are highly effective antioxidants that can protect your skin at the cellular level. They increase collagen and moisture levels in your skin, improve wrinkles and skin firmness, and improve skin texture.
