Alwi Husen Maolana has been sentenced to six years in prison for the case revenge porn that ensnare him. Watch the journey of the case from the virus to the trial verdict.
Alwi was arrested by the Banten Police’s Ditreskrimsus last February. He was arrested after distributing a video of the victim, with the initials IAK, which had decency content. He sent the video via Instagram direct message to one of the victim’s colleagues.
“Located in Pandeglang, the victim was informed by the witness SM’s theme that the witness received an Instagram DM in the form of a video clip containing content that violated decency sent by an Instagram account that was known to belong to the perpetrator,” said Head of Sub-Directorate of Cyber Crime Ditreskrimsus Banten Police Commissioner Wendy Andriyanto from a written statement received by detik.com , last Tuesday (28/2).
Viral Case
The victim’s brother, Iman Zanatul Haeri, later confided on social media that he admitted that the prosecutor had made it difficult for him. In addition, the trial process conducted by the panel of judges at the Pandeglang District Court was called odd.
“My sister was raped. The perpetrator forced her to become a girlfriend with video threats or revenge porn. For three years she endured full of torture. The trial was complicated, my attorney and family (the victim) were evicted by the court. Reported to the Attorney’s PPA post, instead they were intimidated,” wrote the older sister victim as quoted by detikcom on Monday (26/6).
Prosecutor’s Response to Viral Problems
Banten Attorney General Didik Farkhan Alisyahdi said there was a misunderstanding about the viral case. The Prosecutor denied making things difficult and emphasized that the Prosecutor was on the victim’s side.
“We want to fight for the victim, we prosecutors are instead victims of misunderstanding. The prosecutor has represented, already tried this case. In fact, he was bullied as if he was not on the side of the victim,” Didik explained via zoom in Serang, Monday (26/6/2023) .
Charged 6 Years in Prison
Alwi Husaeni Maolana, demanded 6 years in prison in the revenge porn case. Alwi was also demanded to be fined Rp. 1 billion. The defendant was charged with Article 45 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph 1 of the Electronic Transaction Information Law (UU ITE).
In that charge, the prosecutor considered aggravating circumstances against Alwi. The prosecutor said there was nothing mitigating circumstances for Alwi.
“The defendant’s actions caused witness IAK to feel threatened, scared and embarrassed because the video sent via DM had spread to the witness’s family and friends. The defendant’s actions caused witness IAK to experience symptoms of anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress,” said Head of Intel Kejari Pandeglang Wildan, in reading the demands submitted by the Public Prosecutor Mario Nicolas, Tuesday (26/7/2023).

There is pressure for the defendant in the revenge porn case, Alwi Husein Maolana, to be expelled from his campus, namely Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta). However, the campus has yet to impose sanctions on Alwi.
Initially, Iman Zanatul Haeri, the older sister of a revenge porn victim, made this request. Iman asked the Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University Campus Task Force to expel or drop out the accused Alwi from campus. The reason is that the victim’s family believes that Alwi Husein’s actions do not reflect that of a student.
Then on (4/7/2023), Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta) imposed severe sanctions on the defendant in the revenge porn case, Alwi Husen Maolana. Untirta dropped out Alwi.
“The sanctions have been signed in accordance with the criteria for academic violations regulated by us,” said Chancellor of Untirta Fatah Sulaiman to detikcom, Tuesday (4/7/2023).
