To detect and prevent various diseases, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) uses vaccination strategies; control and prevention; nursing modules to prevent and monitor the degree of nutrition, as well as others to address sexual and reproductive health.
As part of the actions of the 1st National Health Day 2023, which lasted from July 10 to 21, the IMSS Hidalgo Nursing Branch Coordinator, Rocío del Valle Campos, said that in these first days, the response of the population has been optimal for the services they offer.
“In the health units we have the HPV vaccination for girls from 13 to 15 years old, the conjugate vaccine for older adults from 60 years of age and the pediatric Pfizer vaccine for children from 5 to 11 years old,” he said.
In an interview for El Sol De Hidalgo, del Valle Campos explained that to strengthen the immune system of children from 6 months to 4 years 11 months of age, they use control and prevention actions through the application of vitamin A, as well as albendazole for infants. from 2 to 14 years of age, with which they guarantee correct deworming.
Likewise, to avoid dehydration, he stated that they deliver oral life serum to all those responsible for children under 5 years of age, which can be administered in cases with vomiting, diarrhea or fever, for which he invited the population to go to his medical unit to receive this type of care.
In addition, on a permanent basis, the health instances belonging to the Institute apply educational actions on health issues by age group and sex, weight and height measurement; healthy eating guidance; prevention and detection of diseases, oral health actions, reproductive health and prevention of unwanted pregnancy, as well as prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, all as part of the PrevenImss check-up program.
