Zsófia Koncz said that “for Hungarian families, Szerencs chocolate carries a very important message for several generations”, and it also plays an important role in the life of the city. He added that thanks to the government support, instead of three locations, production can now take place in one plant.
The politician stated that for the Hungarian government, domestic businesses are extremely important. The Ministry of Energy was working to help in the energy crisis caused by the war, he pointed out, adding that since May 1st, natural gas and electricity prices for about 30,000 customers – two-thirds of whom were small and medium-sized enterprises – have been “more than halved”. After that, the electricity prices of 180,000 micro-enterprises were halved, and electricity price ceilings were also introduced in some sectors from July 1, Zsófia Koncz said.
According to the state secretary, the centenary will be celebrated in several stages in the city: an exhibition showing the hundred years of chocolate has opened in the Szerencs Castle, preparations are being made to publish a book on the history of the sweet, and the Arthur Days Festival will be held between August 25 and 27.
Sára Hegmanné Nemes, vice president of the board of Magyar Posta Zrt., said in her greeting that in honor of the anniversary, one of the factory’s iconic sweets, the cat’s tongue, will also appear on the stamp. He added that the self-adhesive stamp in the shape of a cat’s tongue was issued in thirty-six stamp-like sheets, mixed with milk and dark chocolate colors.

The vice-president announced that 36,000 commemorative commemorative stamps will be issued, and 6,000 copies of chocolate-scented stamps have also been produced. A stamp costs HUF three hundred and can be used on both postcards and envelopes

István Takács, the managing director of Szerencsi Bonbon Kft., emphasized that the products of the chocolate factory established in 1923 were already sold in the United States after two years of operation. He added that, in addition to the production of traditional products, they are now also engaged in the production of diabetic and sugar-free sweets, as well as bark cast figurines.
