PYONGYANGUnited States (US) surveillance aircraft violated airspace over North Korea (North Korea) exclusive economic waters zone more than 30 times from July 2 to 10.

Pyongyang’s state-run news agency, KCNA, reported this on Thursday (13/7/2023).

“Going into July, US surveillance assets have continued to engage in provocative espionage acts, which can no longer be ignored. As a result, military tensions on the Korean peninsula are getting closer to the worst crisis,” the KCNA report said.

“U.S. forces’ aerial reconnaissance tools illegally intruded into the exclusive economic maritime zone where the sovereignty of the DPRK (North Korea) was exercised more than 30 times between July 2 and 10,” the report said.

“In response, North Korea sent fighter jets and repelled US surveillance aircraft, sending a clear and strong warning to the US,” the report said.

“This is a clear manifestation of the DPRK’s will to maintain peace and its forbearance to prevent a military conflict that could lead to the worst crisis on the Korean peninsula where nuclear and nuclear are facing each other and to control the current dangerous situation,” the news agency’s military correspondent said.

Earlier this week, Kim Yo Jong, deputy department director of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party and sister of the country’s leader, said a US surveillance drone entered airspace over North Korea’s economic zone.

A spokesman for North Korea’s Ministry of National Defense added that US surveillance aircraft violated the country’s airspace several times from July 2 to 9.
