There are some competitors, above all the Bundesliga relegated GWD Minden and ASV Hamm-Westfalen. An overview of what has happened with the expected competitors:
GWD Minden
In keeping with the 100th anniversary of Grün-Weiß Dankersen 2024, the immediate return to the 1st league would look good on the Lübbecke neighbors and hall users. The new coach Adalsteinn Eyjolfsson recently led the Kadetten Schaffhausen to the Swiss championship again. With Bjarni Valdimarsson (IFK Skövde) and Danilo Radovic (HC Dinamo Pancevo) at half-left and playmaker Benedek Éles (Fejér Veszprém), he has to integrate three players into a central position on their debut in Germany. This will undoubtedly require patience. The new assistant coach is former Lübbeck coach Aaron Ziercke, who also looks after the relegated reserve in Minden.
ASV Hamm-Westphalia
Brazil international goalkeeper Marcos Vinicios Colodeti from Slovenian champions Tatran Presov is the most spectacular transfer. Philip Jungemann (HC Elbflorenz) came for the circle. Jakub Sterba (Bayer Dormagen) replaces Tim Wieling, who has moved to Lübbecke, on the right wing.
Dessau-Rosslauer HV
The DRHV narrowly missed promotion on the last day of the match in a long-distance duel with ThSV Eisenach. With the four additions, there should again be a place in the top third. Loan player Paul Bones from SC DHfK Leipzig is now part of the squad, while the dangerous right backcourt player Alexander Mitrovic (2.04 meters tall) comes from the Norwegian first division club Fjellhammer LI. Oskar Emanuel (HC Elbflorenz) is also left-handed. And circle runner Tim Maximilian Hertzfeld changes from SC Magdeburg with double play rights.
SG BBM Bietigheim
The team of former Lübbecker Tom Wolf made a strong final sprint and finished fifth. There are two new players in the well-rehearsed squad: Filip Baranasic from HBW Balingen-Weilstetten II replaces Konstantin Poltrum (target unknown) in goal, left winger Niklas Michalski has been loaned out by the DHB Cup winner Rhein-Neckar Löwen with the right to play a second game.
HSG Nordhorn-Lingen
The most significant change in last year’s sixth is in goal: Bart Ravensbergen’s qualities have also been recognized by Bundesliga club Göppingen and the Dutchman signed. Ivan Budalic, who comes from newly promoted TuS Vinnhorst and had previously helped out at Bundesliga club HSV Hamburg, is to replace him.
1. VfL Potsdam
The promoted team played a strong season and finished seventh. Coach Bob Hanning brought the Russian international Sergej Gorpishin from Eulen Ludwigshafen. The Austrian national player and playmaker Elias Kofler comes from the runner-up SG Handball West Wien. Ole Schramm from the third division team TV Emsdetten strengthens the left backcourt of the Potsdamer.
Owls Ludwigshafen
Ten departures (veteran Christian Klimek and goalkeeper Matej Asanin are retiring) have so far only been matched by three new arrivals at the bottom of the table: Mex Raguse (VfL Bad Schwartau) who scored 163 times, left winger Kian Schwarzer (TBV Lemgo) and pivot Tom Bergener (on loan from Bergisches hc).
