NATO Countries Deliberately Delaying F-16 Fighter Jets to Ukraine: Expert

NATO countries are deliberately delaying the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, giving the Russians time to prepare for it. This was stated by military expert Roman Svitan on Channel 24, UNIAN agency reported.

The former military pilot and instructor in the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that the delay in the delivery of F-16 fighters to Ukraine will lead to the fact that Russia will be able to prepare for the appearance of these aircraft. Even now, the enemy has begun actively withdrawing its aircraft from storage to have tenfold air superiority until the F-16 comes along, he said.

“It feels like they’re specifically (NATO countries) giving the Russians to prepare, just like they gave them to prepare for the entry of tanks, they gave them six months to dig in and mine Ukrainian territory. Now they’re giving them six months to are preparing for the F-16,” Roman Svitan said.

Roman Svitan criticized NATO also because of the unclear terms regarding when Ukraine can become a member of the Alliance, reported Yahoo News. “Because we weren’t allowed into NATO, those doors weren’t open, it means that … none of our partners see the end of the war until at least the summer of next year,” Swithan said. “NATO members have given Putin at least one more year to make life a nightmare for the Ukrainian population and force him to abandon NATO,” Svitan said. “The fact is that half of the NATO countries would breathe a sigh of relief if Putin did such an operation,” he said.

At the NATO summit in Vilnius, Ukraine did not get what it wanted – it is still not clear when it can become a member of NATO. The US and Germany, according to sources, are strongly opposed to the country now being admitted while a war is being waged on its territory.
