BENGALURU: South Region has an advantage over West Region in the final of the Duleep Trophy Cricket Tournament. At the end of the second day’s play, Western Region was 129 runs for the loss of seven wickets. South Region was earlier all out for 213 runs.
Captain Hanuma Vihari was the top scorer for South Region with 63 runs. In reply, opener Prithvi Shah (65) scored a half-century for Western Region, but no one else could provide support at the other end.
The performance of Karnataka pace bowler Vidwat Kavarappa, who took four wickets for 44 runs, was the middle of the powerful batting line-up of the Western Region which included Cheteshwar Pujara, Suryakumar Yadav and Sarfaraz Khan. Pujara nine, Surya eight and Sarfaraz Khan out for no runs.
