Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The presidential advisor in the UAE, Anwar Gargash, said, Thursday, that “anger” cannot be a strategy to confront acts of hatred and protect sanctities, and that it is no substitute for systematic collective action.
Gargash said in a tweet on Twitter: “Returning to projects condemning acts of hatred, protecting religious sanctities, and confronting changing the concepts of marriage and family in an effort to impose values on our society within the framework of the human rights file, I find that anger cannot build a confrontation project.”
The Emirati presidential advisor added, “There is no substitute for systematic collective action at the level of societies, countries, and organizations.”
On Tuesday, the Human Rights Council adopted a resolution condemning and strongly rejecting any advocacy or display of religious hatred, including public acts of desecration related to the Qur’an.
The issuance of the decision came in light of the incident of burning a copy of the Qur’an in a protest in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, on June 28.
