Fatal Hit-and-Run: A Fiery Argument Escalates into Tragedy on 60th Street in Manhattan

A heated argument between two men, after a crash that didn’t seem so serious, unexpectedly ended in a hit-and-run. The events occurred on 60th Street in Manhattan, around 4:00 pm this Wednesday.

Our reporter Gary Merson, from Univision 41, went to the scene and verified that a Chevrloet truck and a Volkswagen sedan had a slight collision, without giving way to each other.

In the middle of the discussion, presumably, the 54-year-old driver of the truck pulls out a knife and proceeds to cut the tires of the other car. And in response, the other subject dismounts a woman and accelerates, running him into a wall.

The driver of the truck did not survive after being run over

According to witnesses, emergency teams went to the area and tried to revive him. He then was transported to Cornell NY Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The arrival of the New York Police forced the street to remain closed for several hours. Even Mayor Eric Adams was at the scene, but did not issue a statement. He only limited himself to asking that the authorities be allowed to work.

The other driver was arrested and taken to police station 19 to undergo interrogation. Next to him, in the Volkswagen sedan, also traveled a woman as a co-pilot and three children in the rear seats.

To find out for sure what happened and move forward with the investigations, the Police are analyzing the surveillance videos and asking some witnesses what they saw.
