Test Your Knowledge: Remembering Literary Works by Character Names

Try to remember the names of literary works by the name of the character.

At school, many of us wrote an essay on the topic “My favorite book character”. Or they answered this question in questionnaires that passed from one classmate to another. Or at least used this question and its answer as additional protection against email hacking. Each of us has our favorite literary characters that we want to be equal to, while many of them had a prototype in reality. For example, the heroine of the novel by Francis Scott Fitzgerald “The Great Gatsby” Daisy Buchanan, as you might guess, appeared thanks to the writer’s memories of his first love. Jenevra King was the name of the girl who won Fitzgerald’s heart. The romance between them lasted two years, but because of the difference in social status, they had to leave. “Poor boys shouldn’t even think about marrying rich girls” – this phrase from the novel, perhaps, sounds exhaustive. By the way, Genevra served as a prototype not only for Daisy, but also for other heroines of the writer – Judy Jones in Winter Dreams and Isabelle Borge in Beyond Paradise.
