Tesla apparently funded a project to build a glass house for its CEO, billionaire Elon Musk. The company is currently conducting an internal investigation into a secret project code-named “Project 24”, in which Tesla purchased glass worth millions of dollars.
Elon Musk’s glass residence
Wall Street Journal informs, that Omead Afshar, the head of the Tesla factory in Texas, is suspected of misappropriation of funds. Members of the board of the company also tried to find out what part Elon Musk himself is taking in the project.
Afshar is known for his close relationship with Musk and is also involved with Twitter and SpaceX. Neither Omead nor Tesla representatives comment on the project.
The project involves the construction of a large glass-walled building near Tesla’s headquarters in Texas – which could be an office but, according to the design plan, contains residential elements such as bedrooms, bathrooms and a kitchen.
Subsequent renderings, notes Forbes showcased a waterfall in the building’s surrounding landscape, in addition to a futuristic pickup truck – similar to the Cybertruck.
City for employees
Previously, other documents obtained by journalists testified to the construction of even a separate city called Snailbrook. It was reported that Elon Musk purchased thousands of square meters of land near Austin, Texas – this is the territory of the former pasture and agricultural land.
Welcome posters have already appeared on the grounds saying, “Welcome Snailbrook, Texas.”
According to documents obtained by Insider, about 110 residential structures, a swimming pool, an outdoor sports field, a gym, a private school and Musk’s personal estate will be built here. Maybe this is the same glass house?
Where does Musk live now?
Elon Musk said last year that his main place of residence is a $50,000 house in south Texas that he rents from SpaceX. However, journalists learned that the billionaire lived in a huge mansion owned by Ken Howry, the co-founder of PayPal.
Musk has also stated that he sometimes “sleeps on couches in the Tesla and Twitter offices.” In 2020, he promised that he would have “no housing” and sold several houses in California for $130 million in total.
