As the DFB announced on Wednesday, the national team will prepare for the international match in Hartford (Connecticut) against the USA (October 14, 9 p.m. CEST) as part of the USA trip at the Patriots training ground. New England’s practice field is in close proximity to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where the Patriots play their home games.

The training ground serves not only the Patriots, but also the footballers of the New England Revolution, who play in Major League Soccer. The “Revs” are one of the oldest teams in the USA and were among the founding members of the MLS.

However, the sporting support does not only go in one direction. In return, the Patriots, who will meet the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt (Main) on November 12, will complete their preparation on the DFB campus.

According to Holger Blask, Managing Director of DFB GmbH & Co. KG, the DFB has been in contact with teams from the NFL for the past few years in order to support each other in the sporting field and to learn from each other. “Now we are very proud to be working with one of the most successful NFL teams ever. The New England Patriots have helped shape the sport over the past two decades and have played a key role in the popularity of American football, even beyond the United States.”

Originally formed in Boston as the Boston Patrios, the New England Patriots have traded under their current name since 1970. With six titles, together with the Pittsburgh Steelers, they are the most successful NFL team of the Super Bowl era.
