Norway Ranks Poorly in 2023 Expat Satisfaction Survey

Norway comes out very poorly in the report from InterNations which for the tenth consecutive year has asked almost 12,000 expats worldwide about how they feel in the country they work in, reports Finansavisen.

Norway ended up in 52nd place out of a total of 53 countries – right after Kuwait. Expats living here in Norway believe that Norway is “unfriendly” and very expensive, and Norway fell a whopping 18 places from the survey in 2022.

An “expat” is a person who resides in a country other than the country of origin – usually to work.

Nearly two out of three rated the cost of living in Norway negatively, compared to 35 percent globally. 37 percent do not think their income is high enough to live a comfortable life. Half think it is difficult to get into the culture in Norway and struggle to make friends. A third describe Norwegians as unfriendly towards foreigners. But nature boasts a score of 95 per cent, compared to 84 per cent globally.

Turkey is in 51st place, just ahead of Norway, while South Korea is in 50th place.

Mexico tops the list as the best country, followed by Spain and Panama in third place.
