At the end of this year’s Money School Tour, 10 school classes will visit the Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt am Main and gather new knowledge about money.
With the third How Money School Tour works, financial knowledge was once again successfully introduced into the classroom. Before the summer holidays, the speakers from our project partner Deutsche Bank trained more than 2,000 schoolchildren on a more risk-aware handling of money during their nationwide school visits.
At the end of the school tour, the school event took place on July 7, 2023 in the Deutsche Bank towers in Frankfurt am Main. Almost 250 students and their teachers from the ninth to twelfth grades were invited to the Deutsche Bank premises.
In a 90-minute ‘Jobstarter’ workshop, the how money works speakers gave the young people exciting insights into everyday money issues such as investments, old-age provision and insurance. “We learned what to look out for when shopping online and received tips on what is particularly important when investing. The speaker explained everything to us in a way that was understandable and relevant to everyday life, so that everyone could understand” (Julia, student). In a lecture, training and study opportunities in the banking environment were also shown. In addition to moderator and financial education ambassador Steffen Große Enking, there were also Lars Stoy, head of the private customer bank, who opened the event, as well as many young people from Deutsche Bank.
“That’s how money works” is a project for general financial education by Deutsche Bank, the banking association and the agency YAEZ. As volunteer speakers, employees of Deutsche Bank impart practical knowledge on the subject of money to schoolchildren from grade 5 of all school types. Teachers can bring a lesson on finance to their school anywhere in Germany with So geht Geld.
