A resolution condemning the burning of the Koran and other sacred books was adopted by the UN Human Rights Council (HRC). This follows from the voting results.

«[Совет] condemns and strongly rejects the recent public and deliberate acts of desecration of the Holy Quran and underlines the need to bring those responsible for these acts of religious hatred to justice,” the resolution says. It is noted that 28 countries approved the draft resolution, 12 countries were against it.

The vote was held at an extraordinary session of the Human Rights Council due to the burning of the Koran in Sweden. Russia approved the document, but could not vote, as it is not a member of the HRC. The project was called “Counteracting religious hatred, which is incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.”

Earlier, Lucas, an activist from Helsingborg, Sweden, planned to burn the charter of NATO countries in order to stop the country from joining the alliance. The Swedish intelligence services have received three more requests to hold religious book burnings in Stockholm and Helsingborg. RT.
