The Russian occupiers are preparing to defend the temporarily occupied Crimea. Fortifications are now being actively built there.
This was said by Denis Chistikov, Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel. He emphasized that the Russians use the occupied peninsula for various military purposes.
“Since the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea, the number of military personnel on the territory of Crimea has increased almost three times. The number of fortifications that are now growing on the territory of Crimea suggests that they are suffering heavy losses and are not sure that they will be able to they compensate them. They want to stop the advance of the Ukrainian army,” Chistikov said.
He added that as of February 2022, there were about 32,000 Russian military personnel in occupied Crimea. “Now we know that Crimea is a logistics supply center for the Russian army in the southern part of Ukraine – in Zaporozhye and Kherson region. Therefore, the number of military personnel is constantly changing. Crimea is also used to treat wounded Russian soldiers,” Chistikov said.
