VVD party leader in the House of Representatives Sophie Hermans has no ambition to become the leader of her party in the upcoming elections. That says the politician on Twitter.

Hermans says that she has been asked a number of times whether she wants to become the leader of the VVD list, but that she does not have that ambition. The position is vacant now that caretaker Prime Minister Mark Rutte has announced his departure from politics.

Former ministers Klaas Dijkhoff, Edith Schippers and Jeanine Hennis, who were also named for the list leader, have all three announced that they are not available.

Bosman will

Outgoing Minister of Security and Justice Dilan Yesilgöz says she does not yet know whether she wants to succeed Mark Rutte as political leader of the VVD. She’s still thinking about that. Yesterday, former Member of Parliament André Bosman put himself forward as a candidate.

Sophie Hermans has been a member of the House of Representatives on behalf of the VVD since 2017. She became party leader in January 2022. Before she became a Member of Parliament, Hermans was Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s political assistant.
