UAE Chess Team Aims for More Medals at 15th Arab Games in Algeria

Algeria, July 11th, 2018 (WAM) — Our national chess team is looking forward to winning more medals in the individual competitions of the 15th Arab Games, which are currently being held in Algeria, after winning the first two gold medals for the UAE in the men’s and women’s team competitions.
Today and tomorrow, singles competitions for “rapid chess” will be held, and the day after tomorrow, individual competitions for “blitz chess”.
Omar Noman Al Ali, captain of the national team, confirmed that winning the men’s and women’s team golds in this tournament reflects the advanced levels of the UAE champions, and represents a strong motivation to obtain more medals in the individual competitions, indicating that the competition was strong for the first place with the teams of Algeria, Syria and Iraq. However, our efforts resulted in winning two gold medals.
Noman praised the good organization of the tournament, and the great arrangements made by the organizing committee, and said that the Arab tournament is more than just a sporting event, because it establishes the values ​​of friendship, love and acquaintance between the Arab teams.
