Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Remake, Capcom’s Indirect Response and Fan Demand

The debate about whether Resident Evil – Code: Veronica will ever see a full remake is really long. Now Capcom has indirectly commented on this issue again (via VGC). During the discussion with the shareholders, the management of the company was asked if it plans to continue with large remakes only in the case of the main numbered parts of Resident Evil. Capcom responded by saying that this is something that is being discussed at the moment. In the past, the developers have let it be known that they also depend on fan demand when deciding which game will receive a modernized version.

At this point, it is appropriate to emphasize that in recent years, two, three, and most recently four have received a full-fledged remake. The first Resident Evil from 1996 received a full-fledged remake already in 2002 on the GameCube, and later its remastered versions were also released on other platforms. According to some players, it deserves a completely new version, even though this one is still great. The same could be said about Resident Evil Zero from the same year on the same technology.

Nevertheless, Code: Veronica is rightfully among the hot favorites. The title from 2000 has seen only minor modifications in the past, and at the same time ranks among the best titles in the series. The fact that the newer Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 already come from the era of PS3 and Xbox 360 could help him, so the question is whether they actually need a full-fledged remake today like the older parts. Also, the repeated interest of enthusiasts in the community remake of Code: Veronica could indicate to Capcom that this is a relatively low-risk bet for them.
