In dialogue with La FM, Pilar Ortiz, executive director of the National Federation of Wheat Millers (Fedemol), gave a reassurance to Colombians about the price that bread will have in the remainder of 2023 and indicated that it will not rise .
“Bread is going to maintain its price from here until the end of the year, because we are seeing that according to Dane statistics, inflation, which was mainly driven by the price of food, is beginning to subside a bit. I believe that the price of bread is going to remain stable for at least this year”, Ortiz argued.
On the other hand, the official indicated that the price of bread, in previous months, had an increase in its price due to the high prices of wheat, a product of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as inflation in our country.
“The price of bread is always a subject of discussion and let’s say that it is a subject that everyone is always aware of”, specified the executive director of Fedemol. According to data provided by the union, it is estimated that each person in the country consumes 28 kilograms of bread per year, a figure that has been growing.
