You may not have found it curious to have used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate music in your next event, but surely you did not expect it to be the protagonist. This is the case of the AI Song Contest, a music festival in which, as a differential factor, Artificial Intelligence must be implemented in the songs presented. A curious international contest that combines something as innovative and traditional as AI and music, respectively, and whose fourth edition will take place in A Coruña.
The AI solves doubts, generates texts with the characteristics that we indicate, is capable of generating images and… could they, from now on, be another tool for composing music? This is the proposal of the AI Song Contesta musical contest in which the compositions must have been created through AI.
As the organization explains, this international competition “shows the creative potential of co-creativity between humans and AI in the songwriting process.” In this way, in AI there is a collaborative partner for “teams made up of musicians, researchers, music producers, data scientists or developers.”
To be able to participate, the songs presented must be original, unpublished and of no more than 4 minutes. Genres, styles and languages are completely free, as long as, of course, the melodies have followed an artificial intelligence co-creation songwriting process. Additionally, each team has to deliver a white paper describing how they have used AI and data.
In this fourth edition, Spain will become the host country of the contest. The Grand Final of the AI Song Contest will take place in the city of A Coruña, on November 4, 2023. This year’s event, whose theme is “O Camiño da IA” (The path of AI), celebrates the diversity of ways to work AI on music, with artists at the center of the songwriting process.
