The Wimbledon Grand Slam continues in the UK for the third time this season. Belarusian Arina Sobolenko (2nd place in the WTA ranking) successfully held the match of the fourth round of the women’s singles.
Our athlete confidently beat the Russian tennis player Ekaterina Aleksandrova (22) – 6:4, 6:0. For reaching the semi-finals of Wimbledon, Arina Sobolenko will compete with American Madison Keys (18).
It should be noted that Arina Sabalenka remained the only Belarusian in the grid of the single women’s tournament. Previously, Victoria Azarenka (20) could not get into the quarterfinals. In a tense fight of the fourth round, she lost to Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (76) – 6:2, 4:6, 6:7 (9:11). Also in the women’s doubles, Belarusian Irina Shimanovich reached the quarterfinals in a duet with Georgian Oksana Kalashnikova. For reaching the semi-finals, they will compete with American Caroline Dolhide and Chinese Shuai Zhang.
Wimbledon will run until July 16th.
