MWith the Lower Austria holiday campaign, people who care for their family members receive financial support from the state of Lower Austria. Now the balance is drawn: In the first half of 2023, significantly more applications were approved than in the previous year.

Caregivers often need to be available 24/7. Going on vacation is often difficult in terms of time and money. With the Lower Austria holiday campaign, caring relatives should be encouraged to take a break. They are financially supported by the state of Lower Austria. In the first half of 2023, 231 applications have been approved so far. In the same period of the previous year, there were 134.

They get 175 euros for a holiday spent in Austria. This amount is increased to 225 euros if the stay took place in Lower Austria. If the actually incurred and proven overnight stay costs of the caregiver are below these amounts, a subsidy in the amount of the actually proven costs will be granted. Funding is available to people who look after people in need of care (at least care level 3) as the main caregiver. The campaign can be used once per person per year.

“Caregiving relatives are of great importance to the entire care sector. Because the compatriots want to be cared for mainly in their own four walls – that would not be possible without the relatives,” says Social Councilor Teschl-Hofmeister (ÖVP).
