The Ukrainian military, under the cover of artillery, continues to relentlessly storm the positions of the Russians in the steppes of the Zaporozhye region. The offensive is hampered by heavy mining of territories, every meter is too difficult to gain because it costs someone’s life, writes Obozrevatel.

The course of the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian forces in the south was told in the TSN material.

It is noted that, in particular, fighters from the 25th separate battalion of the 47th separate brigade “Magura” are working in this direction.

“We go there and face minefields everywhere – in the fields, in the plantations. It takes time to get through them. Unfortunately, this comes at a price. We are losing people from the shelling,” said the fighter with the call sign “Yankee”.

The fighters note that the Russians are well prepared for the Ukrainian offensive. In addition to the total mining of the territories, the Russians built a powerful multi-layered defense, scattered in a checkerboard pattern, trenches were dug.

“They are crawling from the right, then from the left, then from the side. At first we did not understand what was happening. We are moving, but not as fast as we would like,” added the fighter with the call sign “Cordon”.

While the Ukrainians are moving forward, the entire armament of the Russians is “working” against them – from aviation to artillery.

The American publication The Wall Street Journal published an article about the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian troops against the Russian troops.

In particular, the journalists tried to explain why the operation was developing “slowly” – first of all, they pointed to the heavy mining of the territories and the powerful fortifications of the Russians.

The media spoke to Ukrainian soldiers, who explained that in order to capture the enemy’s positions, the area must first be covered by artillery fire, and then move forward with armored vehicles, so that the infantry can then engage.

However, the lack of tanks and other armored vehicles makes this strategy difficult to implement.

ISW noted that on July 8, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted counteroffensive operations in at least three sectors of the front.

They advanced on the southern flank of Bakhmut, continued to strike Russian concentration areas deep in the rear of the Luhansk region, and destroyed Russian equipment, weapons and ammunition depots in the south.
