Six people were killed and one other person injured in the attack on a Kindergarten (TK) di kota Lianjiang, provinsi Guangdong, China south on Monday (10/7/2023).
“The victims consisted of one teacher, two parents and three students,” a spokesman for the Lianjiang city government said, according to state news agency. AFPMonday (10/7/2023).
He did not provide details on the identities and ages of the victims, nor the weapons used in the attack.
“One suspect has been arrested,” he added, adding that a police investigation was underway.
The incident occurred at around 7:40 a.m. local time, the state-backed China News Network reported.
Authority China it strictly prohibits the possession of firearms, and there has been a spate of stabbings in recent years.
Fatal attacks specifically targeting schools have occurred across the country, prompting authorities to beef up security around schools.
