Libreville, July 9, 2023 (AGP) – The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) will organize a virtual workshop next Thursday, July 13, for the benefit of its member news agencies, titled “ Presentation of the World Media Congress (version 2)“, in cooperation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and Abu Dhabi National Company Exhibitions (ADNEC).
This workshop aims to present the 2nd edition of the Congress, which will take place from November 14 to 16, 2023, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.
The meeting also aims to examine the opportunities offered to member news agencies during the Congress organized by ADNEC and WAM, including booking space to participate in exhibitions, side meetings, participation in discussion sessions , the exchange of expertise and experiences with the international media, and the signing of cooperation agreements with these means, in addition to participation in workshops.
Acting director general of the Federation of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mohammed Abed Rabbo Al-Yami, said the workshop is part of the union’s drive to strengthen the involvement of member news agencies in international media events, in a way that helps to improve their performance, and modernize their tools by identifying the latest cutting-edge technologies and innovation in the media sector.
For the participants, he added, this meeting would be an opportunity to exchange ideas among member news agencies on ways to take advantage of this global event, especially in light of the great changes taking place in the work of the media and the need for official news agencies to keep pace with these changes. Which to maintain their vital role as a trusted source of information capable of reaching readers in various ways, segments and their directions.
According to the Union of News Agencies, this second meeting of its kind will focus on three themes: environmental media, education in the field of media and innovation, and sports media. Recalling that the first session was held from 15 to 17 November 2022 and saw wide participation from major media institutions and organizations around the world, with the participation of more than 1,600 media professionals and from 141 countries, and the presence of more than 13,556 visitors.
This, says the UNA, has provided a platform to accelerate the pace of development of the world’s media sector, broadening horizons of cooperation and unifying ideas on a global scale to enable media organizations adapt to changes in the media landscape and succeed.
