Sydelon Signs Sales Agreement for New Waste Transfer Center at Port of Thionville-Illange

The Sydelon, a union which manages the transport and treatment of household waste in Lorraine Nord, has just signed a sales agreement with Sodevam for the purchase of the land intended to accommodate the future transfer center, at the port of Thionville-Illange. “The first act of our achievements”, according to its president.

The current president of Sydelon does not mince his words. “This is the first time that we are in action. With the signing of the purchase of the land planned for the new waste transfer center, we sign the first act of our achievements. »

This Friday, July 7, Michel Paquet signed with Sodevam, the developer of the ZAC Europort (renamed E LOG IN’4), granted by Sydelon, the acquisition of the plot which will see the new center of transfer that will replace that of Manom. Cost of the operation: approximately 2 million euros.

Near the slaughterhouse and the recycling center

The 2 ha plot, devoted to the transfer wharf without impacting neighboring projects (slaughterhouse and sorting center), will house a so-called gravity transfer building of 150 square meters. The site, accessible from departmental road 953 and the waterways, will have five emptying docks and will process 55,000 t of household waste per year.

On a daily basis, between 50 and 60 collection skips will be counted per day on entry and ten FMA (alternative moving floor) skips per day on exit. Waste that will then be redirected to Montois-la-Montagne, Téting, Metz and Villers-la-Montagne.

A manager, an administrative officer and two operators should work on site.

Four EPCI members

“After 10 years of cooperation, despite several studies for the construction of waste treatment facilities, noted the Court of Auditors in a report delivered in 2021, Sydelon has not yet carried out a significant investment project. Its main financial indicators appear to be commensurate with the role of order grouping that its member EPCIs [la communauté d’agglomération Portes de France Thionville, la communauté d’agglomération du Val de Fensch, la communauté de communes de Cattenom et environs et la communauté de communes Bouzonvillois Trois Frontières, N.D.L.R.] wanted to entrust to him. This trend is reversed at the start of 2021 since now, the syndicate seems to be moving towards the realization of heavy investments (sorting center, transfer center and recycling center). »
