At the closing concert of the song and dance festival, Raimonda Paul’s song “My Homeland” was also played, in which the Maestro himself sat at the piano.
Arnis Krauze, who shared the video on his Twitter account, intercepted the composer immediately after coming off the stage for a short interview about his first emotions.
Asked about the emotions when the entire large audience loudly shouted “Raymond! Raimond!”, Maestro says that his concert life has been quite active lately.
“But the Song Festival is the Song Festival. It is very pleasant that I hear one of the cornerstones of our Song Festival – Mārtiņš Braun’s song, that’s how it sounds. Although, to be honest, I was still in some position in those years, we found that song and included it in the repertoire of the Song Festival,” the composer says about his colleague Mārtiņš Braun’s song “Saule. Thunder. Daugava”. This year, this song sounded especially emotional, because this is the first Song and Dance Festival, since its author is no longer sitting at the piano, but “watching from the edge of a cloud”.
Raymond Paul remembers how Martin Brown’s song slowly got to where it is today.
As always, Maestro can’t do without a joke. He says that he will try to call the “Free Mic” tomorrow, where he will tell you what he thinks about everything.
